Our Safety Coordinators are Trained in Motivating Employees to Accept a Behavioral Safety Process.

Behavioral safety is dependent on the participation of motivated employees to make it effective.

Behavioral - Based Safety is simply the use of behavioral psychology to promote safety at work and home. Behavioral safety typically involves creating a systematic, ongoing process that clearly defines a set of behaviors that reduce the risk of injury within the work place. Our Safety Coordinators will conduct observations, and teach the workers the importance of them doing observations and to provide feedback on safety practices within their work areas. These observations provide data that is used as the basis for recognition, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

A Proactive Approach

With the behavioral approach, companies do not have to wait until something goes wrong to seek out performance improvements. We teach individuals to scan for hazards, to focus on the potential injuries and the safe behavior(s) that can prevent them, and to act safely.

At Power Performance We Develop A Safety Culture in the work place.

The nature of human potential is that it must be nurtured, guided, and exemplified. Full potential rarely appears. The process by which human potential is realized is called shaping. In the Science of Behavior Analysis, shaping is the act of guiding the evolution of behavior towards some predetermined final form. Behavior is shaped successfully by positively reinforcing progress. First we must define the kind of culture we want, then, we must design the developmental steps necessary to help an existing culture evolve into the desired one.

The main question that should be addressed in designing a culture is "How can we facilitate safe, quality production?" After all, without production, the business would not exist. Safety without meeting quality production goals eventually will kill the business. Meeting quality production goals without safety is likely to kill someone.

The safety culture we want to shape is the behaviors that focus on safe, quality production and ensure safety for everyone. At Power Performance our Behavioral Safety System, the focus is to minimize the occurrence of near misses. A near miss is any event that could have resulted in an injury, but did not, because of some behavior the individual did to keep safe. Minimizing near misses will minimize first aid injuries, medical emergencies, and fatalities. Our Behavioral Safety System monitors near misses per individual and reinforces avoiding risky activities.

Why Have A Safety Coordinator?

Even after safety training, there is no guarantee that a worker will work safely, the temptation to take shortcuts is fueled by past experiences in which similar activities were done successfully and injury-free using risky short cuts. Another factor that fuels risk-taking is the methods specified in training for doing the work often take more time, a cumbersome slow safety procedure is likely to fall by the wayside. The absence of injuries leads many managers to conclude that people are working safely. This is a dangerous assumption because the absence of injuries could be because people got lucky. The only way to know if people are working safely is to monitor their work attitudes.

Our Behavioral Safety System will motivate people to act safely, and show that safe behavior, not luck, is responsible for safety. More specifically, the behavior-based approach to achieving safety improvements is a process of involving workers in defining the ways they are most likely to be injured, seeking their input, and asking them to observe co-workers in order to determine progress in the reduction of at-risk ehaviors. Behavioral observations are the key to successful behavior-based safety and are necessary for sustained safety improvements. In addition, safety improvements can be readily assessed by on site personnel monitoring target behaviors.

Our Safety Coordinators will also ensure that safety, training programs, work conditions, procedures, and processes comply with regulations.

At Power Performance we strive to be the best Safety Company in the business!!
